Our Programs
Adjunct Workshops: In partnership with the Office of the President, CETL conducts workshops for part-time faculty. Adjuncts receive a stipend for attending these workshops.
CUNYfirst: CCNY went live with CUNYfirst in the Spring of 2014. CETL conducts limited support on several faculty functions, which include posting grades, textbooks and rosters.
Graduate Students: As part of a grant submission or request from departments, CETL is involved with assisting graduate students to become better teachers. By hosting a series of workshops on teaching, assessment and technology, CETL assists in the preparation of these graduate students for college teaching.
Hybrid / Online: With funding via a Title V grant, CETL has been instrumental in providing faculty development for both hybrid (partially online) and fully online courses. As part of an ongoing program, we have created this series for both experienced and novice faculty regarding online teaching, and covering a broad range of topics. Such workshops include Structuring Your Course, Using Discussion Boards Effectively, and Effective Assessment Strategies, to name just a few.
Special Events: Each semester, CETL conducts special events (i.e., full-day Teaching or Technology Immersions or Adjunct Training) that provide a more extended, leisurely exploration of a topic. In the past, we have also conducted a winter retreat for CUNY CETL Directors and a forum for instructional technologists within CUNY.
Teaching: Teaching is a complex set of skills that can be improved with a variety of tools, perspectives and strategies — all designed to enhance the learning experience.
Technology: Advances in technology, including E-books, iPads in the Classroom, Web 2.0, Blackboard, and screen capture offer the potential to improve student engagement and enhance classroom skills.
Hands-On: This series involves working with technology programs in our training room using PCs and Macs. Faculty get hands-on experience with a variety of software packages that can help improve teaching.
